Under 18s Choir
Join us weekly for a session packed with learning songs, building musical skills and playing musical games. We will sing mainly folk tunes from the UK and around the world but also some pop, film and classical arrangements. Each session will incorporate vocal technique and develop the singers’ musical ear. Being part of a choir can help with learning other instruments and set you up to enjoy singing for life. Aside from music, it also builds confidence, teamwork skills and provides a refreshing place to unwind. Members will be given the opportunity (but never pressured) to solo.
We meet every Wednesday in term time 4 - 5pm. Everything will be taught by ear and no prior experience or ability is necessary. Ages 8 to 18 are welcome. The cost is £6 per session per participant and sessions must be booked in advance by using this page.
About Eleanor
I am a freelance musician based in Sheffield, specialising in piano and choral music. I work with both professional and community choirs across Sheffield as a director, composer and accompanist. My first appreciation for choral music was for the beauty in sacred choral works when I joined a church choir at age 7. I’m now especially interested in singing in the community, how it can bring intergenerational groups together and have a positive impact on people’s wellbeing. I am a graduate of Music at the University of Sheffield and am proficient in piano and bassoon. I teach music based on the students’ goals which can include taking grades. My lessons include theory and musicianship exercises to help students become well rounded musicians.
